Tim Brooks

In a 2007, Grammy-winning effort, television and recording historian Tim Brooks brings us the names and stories of the first black recording artists. Lost Sounds was painstakingly reconstructed from shards of available material. In it, and this interview, Tim takes us from 1890-1919 weaving in the development of the phonograph, the evolving genres of black music and the social attitudes of the time. An enlightening academic discussion for all. Content advisory: Offensive lyrics.
