Jeff Place

Jeff ROCKED my WORLD when I first visited Smithsonian Folkways with the Banjo Builder series in 2013. He took me… no, he FLEW me through the doors of the archive and personally introduced me to treasures in his GOLD MINE (and mind)! With the energy and passion of a bridegroom, he placed precious writing, photos and mementoes of past musicians in my hands while filling my mind (and heart) with their stories. I was completely enraptured. Watch this interview and see if you get a hint of what I’m talking about. Being an archivist has to be the greatest job in the world! People like Jeff make it so!
