In this second installment of the “Conversations with Banjo Historians” DVD (Volume 3 in the “Conversations with North American Banjo Builders” Series), banjo collector/historian Jim Bollman talks about the banjo’s evolution from 1830 through 1910. He demonstrates notable achievements with select examples from his prized collection. There’s some really fun, curious ephemera here, too.

The tour feels like a whirlwind… but it actually took over an hour and a half. For someone to really do his lifetime of work justice, it would take months (if not years) of cataloging. But you can get a marvelous taste of history around our favorite instrument through this overview. The ephemera itself is amazing! Jim is also an excellent tour guide!!
